This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is processed when visiting christiankleindienst.com.

1. Controller

The controller under the GDPR is:

Christian Kleindienst
c/o Institute for the Study of Culture, Leipzig University
Beethovenstraße 15
04107 Leipzig
Germany
Email: [email protected]

2. Hosting (Cloudflare Pages) and server/edge logs

Scope / data categories

When you access the website, technical data is processed, e.g.:

  • IP address (online identifier)
  • date and time of access
  • requested URL/file
  • browser/device information (e.g., user agent)

Purpose

  • delivery of the website
  • stability and troubleshooting
  • IT security (e.g., preventing and analyzing attacks)

Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website).

Recipients / processing on behalf

The website is served via Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process technical access data as a processor on behalf of the controller.

Retention

We have not enabled any additional log archiving features (e.g., Logpull/Retention/Logpush). The processing and retention of technical logs follow the hosting provider’s standard technical and security settings. We do not store these logs separately on our own systems.

3. Cookies / end-user devices (Germany: § 25 TDDDG)

This website does not use tracking and does not set analytics or marketing cookies. Depending on enabled security features, Cloudflare may set strictly necessary cookies (e.g., to mitigate automated attacks).

  • For strictly necessary cookies/device access, § 25(2) TDDDG generally allows processing without consent if strictly necessary for transmission or for providing the expressly requested service.
  • For non-essential cookies/technologies, consent under § 25(1) TDDDG would generally be required. We do not use such technologies.

4. Contacting the controller

If you contact the controller by email, phone, or iMessage, the transmitted data (e.g., contact details, message content, and communication metadata) is processed to handle your request.

  • Purpose: responding to and handling inquiries.
  • Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in communication). If an inquiry is aimed at entering into a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR may apply.
  • Retention: data is stored until the inquiry has been conclusively handled, and longer only if required (e.g., follow-up correspondence or legal obligations).

5. Transfers to third countries (in particular: USA)

Cloudflare is a US-based provider. Depending on the processing setup, processing in third countries cannot be excluded. Suitable safeguards may apply for such transfers (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses as part of a data processing agreement) and—where applicable—certification under the EU‑U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

6. Your rights

Subject to the legal requirements, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

7. Supervisory authority (Saxony, Germany)
